The McCloud Family

William S. McCloud was born in Valle Mine, Mo, Dec 16, 1860 , the son of William S. and Mary Ann Holman McCloud. On Feb.5, 1890 he was married at LeMars, Ia. to Walburga Obermire who was born Dec 7, 1870 at Waupun, Wi. the daughter of Joseph and Margaret Pouls Meyer Obermire. As soon as they were married they moved to a farm just outside of Dixon.
They were residents of Dixon County for 40 years, later moving to Ia, where William passed away on May 20, 1936 in Tripoli, Ia. at the age of 76. Walburga returned to Nebraska, living with her daughter at Allen and passed away July, 1963 at Wakefield, Ne at the age of 93. At the time of Walburga's death, she and William had 57 grandchildren, 122 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great grandchildren. Many of their descendants remain in Dixon County today.
Children of William McCloud and Walburga Obermire were as follows: William Joseph , Ella Rose, Margaret Edith, Walburga Muriel, Mabel (Mayme) Mary, Ester Clare, Irene Cecelia, Oliver (Buck) Martin, Minnie Belle (Belle), Hazel Ann McCloud, Helen Agnes, Pearl Marion, Alice Edna, Maurice (Buster) Parkhill
and John Dale.
William J. McCloud was born Dec. 19, 1890, in Dixon County, Ne, the son of William S. and Walburga Obermire McCloud. In 1917 he proposed via a letter to a young girl whom he had met and fell in love with while working in Wisconsin and on Oct. 30, 1917 at Ponca, Ne. was married to Leone Mapson, born March 10, 1899 at Granada, MN to Henry J. Mapson and Clara Rosa Shurz.
William died Jan 14,1978 at Higginsville, Mo. At the time of Leona's death, she and William had 64 grandchildren, 120 great grandchildren, and 9 great great grandchildren. Most of their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren are located all over the U.S.A., and many remain in Nebraska today.
