Lund, who moved from Ullensaker, Norway at age 10 (born in 1875, moved 1885)
to the Maskell area of Dixon County, NE. Ole was confirmed in November of
1891 in the Lime Creek Lutheran Church. He married a women by the name of
Kristine in 1912. They had some 7 children of which the 4 boys names were
Oliver, Hillis, Dean, Monty, Doyle and I think one of the girls names was
Shirleen. Ole and Kristine passed away in 1942 and 1943. Ole has a brother
named Ed and a sister named Laura (married name was Johnson).
Thanks for any help.

#15  Samuel Edward Peterson
Date: 6/19/01
From: judy_peterson@telus.net (Judy Peterson)

My husband's great-grandfather was Samuel Edward Peterson. He married Mary Sophia Anna Katerina Helvig in Marsland, Nebraska. They had two children, Raymond Marshall Peterson, born Sept. 29, 1889 at Wakefield, Dixon Co., Nebraska, count seat Ponca, Nebraska; and Edna Peterson, born in Ponca, Nebraska in 1891.

We can find no history for Samuel Edward Peterson. He may have changed his name from Holmes and he may have had two siblings, Olive and Oscar. His father also may have been the one to change the last name.  Samuel Edward may have owned a bar or saloon.

If anyone has any information regarding this man, my husband's family would be very grateful.

Thank you
Judy Peterson

#12 MILLER, KELLOGG families
Date: 5/25/01
From: Bgarro837@cs.com

I am looking for information on these two families. My great grandparents, David and Katherine (Kate) Miller and their family, moved to Nebraska around 1888. I have a copy of an obit for the daughter, Effie M. Kellogg that indicates that they lived in Allen, in Dixon County.

I have a marriage cert. indicating that Effie Miller married Charles Franklin Kellogg in Allan, Dixon County, Nebraska, on April 2, 1901.  According to the obit,Charles died Nov 8, 1916 leaving Effie to raise seven sons.  Effie died July 17, 1931.  She was a member of the Methodist Church, and the Allen Rebekah Lodge.  Her seven surviving sons were:  Calvin, Willard, and Ancil, all of Allen; Kenneth, of Laramie, Wy., Haskell, of Rickettsa, Ia., and Franklin of Minneapolis, Minn., referred to as the "Kellogg Boys".

David and Kate Miller left Nebraska around, maybe, 1900 with the rest of their family, but Effie remined in Nebraska until her death.

Any information will be appreciated.

#7  Jones, Tucker, Watson,Randall

sisters whose maiden name was Jones:Lizzie married to Charles Tucker 1883,
Susan Estella married to William Randall 1879, and Ruth married to John
Watson 1879. All lived in Dixon or Cedar Co. I am most interested in theiir

#6 Hoover, Myers, Meyer, Mattison, Beller
Date: 4/14/01
From: acmeyer@iinet.net.au (Allan Meyer)

I am seeking info on my gg-grandfather Josiah Hoover who came to Dixon Co.
from Jesup Co. IA in 1870 and died in Ponca Apr 19, 1892. He and his wife
Mary Jane Hostrawser had six children: Emma (my g-grandmother), Joe who
married Abbie _____, Frank, Carl, Phebe who married Matt Johns, and Bet
(Elizabeth?) who married Jack Shaw.

Emma Hoover married William Meyer in Ponca May 6, 1894.  William Meyer was
the son of Albert Meyer and Huldah Myers. Huldah Myers was the daughter of
Merlin Mudge Myers (b. Apr 14, 1825 Oneida Co. NY d. Jan 7, 1907 in Ponca)
and Susan Valleau (b. abt. 1829 in Monroe Co. NY d. Jan 15, 1906 in Ponca).

Children of Albert Meyer and Huldah Myers were William, Pearl Meyer m.
Charlie Kolb, Susy Meyer m. George Woods, May Meyer m. Orland Kniffel,
Hattie Meyer m. Jim Beller, Lena Meyer m. John Scharff, Lizzie Meyer, and
George Meyer m. Lillian Hubbard.

William Meyer, his wife Emma Hoover, their three children along with
William's mother and father, and Emma's mother all went to Alberta, Canada
in 1899.

I am trying to find the parents of Josiah Hoover.  Family tradition has
mentioned a Katharine Burnhardt.  I have found a Catherine Barnhart who
married a William Henry Hoover in 1821 in Mercer Co. PA. They moved to
Keokuk, IA in 1844 and he died in 1860 in Cadiz, Greene Co. IA. Among their
seven children is a Josiah Hoover (no other details but probably b. between
1820 and 1830). Josiah's daughter Emma was born in Jesup, Buchanan Co. IA
in 1869; just before Josiah's family moved to Dixon Co. NE.  The other
interesting point is that this Catharine Barnhart died Jan 4, 1891 in
Hartington, Cedar Co. NE, just a relatively short distance from Ponca where
my Josiah Hoover lived. I would like to determine whether this Catharine
Barnhart is indeed the mother of my Josiah Hoover or not.

Finally, I would like info on a George Mattison who marrried Flora Ann
Myers who was the daughter of Merlin Mudge Myers and Susan Valleau.

I would appreciate any info from anyone who recognizes any of the names
above and I am willing to exchange any information.
